What a student actually uses it for
- A GP when you arrive with flu, a stomach bug or a sports injury
- Specialists — dermatology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, psychology sessions
- Blood tests, X-rays and scans your doctor orders
- Emergency care at night or at the weekend, anywhere in Spain
- Hospital admission and surgery if something serious happens
- Repatriation of remains, which the consulate requires you to have
Timing your start date
Consulates want the cover to run for the whole period you are asking for, so the policy normally starts on the day your course starts or the day you land, whichever is earlier. Send us your visa appointment date together with the form: we set the start date so the certificate is valid at the appointment and the year of cover still covers your full stay. Already in Spain and renewing your TIE? The new policy can start the day the current one expires so there is no gap in your file.
