Why residents need the full version

Extranjería does not accept travel insurance or a policy with co-payments for a residence file. ASISA Salud in the version we issue removes co-payments and waiting periods, covers hospitalisation, surgery, maternity and specialists across Spain, and states the insured amount your office wants to see. It is also the version that keeps working for you as a normal family health insurance long after the permit is granted.

Private health insurance in Spain for expats and foreigners

The same annual policy is what most expats and foreigners in Spain use as their private health insurance: a Spanish insurer, no co-payments on covered services, no waiting periods and direct access to specialists across the country. You keep it after the permit is granted, and we stay your agent for renewals and family changes.

What the contract covers

  • GP, paediatrics, nursing and all network specialists
  • Laboratory tests and advanced imaging
  • Hospitalisation, surgery and intensive care
  • Pregnancy, childbirth and newborn care
  • Rehabilitation and physiotherapy
  • 24/7 emergencies across Spain and travel assistance abroad up to €25,000

The health questionnaire matters

Before the policy is issued each insured person completes a short health questionnaire. Declare existing conditions honestly: ASISA may add a personal exclusion, but an undeclared condition — and anything arising from it — is excluded from cover altogether. We go through the questionnaire with you so nothing is missed.

Resident questions

Cover, limits and exclusions are set out in ASISA's General and Particular Conditions, delivered with the policy. Prices are the insurer's current tariff and may change when ASISA updates it. Coming to Spain to study instead? See ASISA Health Students.
